| InstallationMasters™,
prompted by the Building Environment and Thermal Envelope
Council (BETEC) through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)
and development by the American Architectural Manufacturers
Association (AAMA), is a nationwide training and certification
program for new construction and replacement installers of
windows and exterior glass doors in the residential and light
commercial markets.
The program
is designed to teach installers the best practices and installation
techniques based on established industry standards. It provides
an assurance that the installer has been trained and has passed
the written test.

A
self-study program is also available. This
program is designed for individuals who qualify to bypass the
training by meeting specific
qualification criteria listed in the handbook, which
includes the fee
schedule.
The self-study
program includes a 360-page training manual, a 21-segment
video, and a test voucher. After taking all the time
necessary to become completely familiar with the training
materials, certification candidates will contact an
individual qualified to proctor tests to schedule a date and
time to take the test, and coordinate their schedule with
the Program Administrator. Individuals qualified to
proctor tests can generally be found at local libraries,
learning centers, or
community colleges. Certification candidates are
warned that the self- study course requires significant personal
commitment to successfully attain the knowledge necessary
to pass the final test.
Click
here to download the handbook to learn about specific self-study pre-requisites. Click here
to download the InstallationMasters™ Self-Study Registration
Form,
then contact the Program Administrator at
